Sisu - Soft Tissue Injuries and Joint Disease in Right Rear Stifle and Tarsus

Image of Dog & Cat

Description: Sisu started skipping on her right rear in September 2024. She was rested and put into a rehab program but continued to skip. Additional diagnostics (Ultrasound, MRI, Dynamic MRI) were performed and multiple PRP injections and shockwave were completed over several months on her psoas and right tarsus. She still continued to skip. April 2025 we had a teleconsult with Dr. Sherman Canapp followed by an MSK Ultrasound with Dr. Debra Canapp on May 12, 2025, and the decision to scope her right stifle. Dr. S. Canapp performed the stifle scope and collected fat cells from her abdomen on July 2, 2025 and they were sent out to VetStem to be cultured. We met back up with Dr. D. Canapp on August 12, 2025 to have 5 doses of stem cells injected: ~ Intra-articular (IA) VetStem injections into the right stifle and right tarsus Ultrasound guided VetStem injections into the: ~ Right fibularis longus tendon ~ Right fibular head ligament ~ Right calcaneofibular ligament Comments: Sisu is 4 weeks post stem cell therapy and we have our first checkup with Dr. D. Canapp coming up on September 22, 2025. Dr. S. Canapp is very pleased with how Sisu is moving in the videos I have sent to him. We are all looking forward to Sisu moving and feeling better as she continues to heal and for her to return to a life that she loves!
