Vet-Stem, Inc. Founder and CEO, Dr. Robert Harman, to Speak at North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association Conference

Robert Harman, DVM, Founder and CEO of Regenerative Veterinary Medicine company Vet-Stem, Inc. is scheduled to speak at the North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association (NAVRMA) Conference in Atlanta, Georgia November 10-13, 2013. Dr. Harman is scheduled to speak on the third day of the conference, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in the Industry Session beginning at 1:00pm.
In his presentation titled “One Medicine and Collaboration for Rapid Development of Cell Therapy” Dr. Harman will show a model and examples of collaborations between commercial, academic, human and veterinary groups to the betterment of all medical progress. He will illustrate how veterinary stem cell medicines have impacted the clinical progress of human stem cell medicines development.
He pulls from his biotechnology and veterinary experience to help Vet-Stem perfect the clinical application of stem cell therapy for various types of injuries, illnesses, and other healing-promoting applications. Vet-Stem is leading in the development for regenerative medicine in the veterinary field, with over 10,000 animals treated in the last 10 years.
Vet-Stem first pioneered stem cell therapy for use in horses for tendon injuries, as an alternative to other choices such as euthanasia. Just two years after the first horse was treated, Vet-Stem treated the first cat and dog.
In 2007 the first peer reviewed, randomized, double-blinded, placebo controlled, multi-center study was published proving intra-articular injection of adipose derived stem cells in the hip joint of a dog decreased patient discomfort and increased patient functional ability. That same year Vet-Stem brought to market the Genesis Platelet Rich Plasma concentration system, as well as the first formal small animal stem cell credentialing course.
This year NAVRMA is taking place inside the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) Americas Annual Conference and Exposition. NAVRMA promotes the acquisition and distribution of knowledge regarding the emerging fields of regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy.
